Being a life-long fan of this series, I was very anxious to see t on the screen. Having suffered for years with only the BBC film version as a visual representation of the book, I perhaps put too much hope into the American film. Add to the idea of CGI advancements and the use of Peter jackson's effects and production crews the fact that Disney was involved (usually a first class effort in their films)raised my expectations even higher. All that said, i found the movie overall "good." Good is okay if your a summer afternoon joy ride (i.e. Herbie the Love Bug), but if you are a litature classic and beloved set of characters like Narnia the movie needs to be GREAT! Awesome! Award winning (like LOTR).

What I expected to be great was: the Beavers, fawns, and other digital creatures were clean and crisp. Their actions beliveable. The physical actors were good as well. But just good. I don't know where to lay the blame, the actors or the script, but I felt distant from these four children who I had identified so much with as a child. Aslan's apperance came with no real build up of anticipation. His actions on screen are not the same strong powerful presense felt in the pages of Lewis' books. The music score was fine, but did not really add to the scenes. In summary: the movie is fine. It is good. But it is not the adaptation which these classics deserve.
