As someone who grew up being obsessed with the BBC version of Narnia, I was slightly worried as to how this blockbuster version would turn out. Admittedly, the BBC version has terrible special effects, but it has an old-fashioned charm that I suspected would be lost on the big screen.

Of course, I had nothing to be worried about. The film was excellent. The acting was mainly brilliant, although the random American accents scattered here and there seemed quite odd. The children were all excellent actors, especially Edmund and Lucy.

Most of the CGI was good, although it was very obvious at points that the beavers were CGI. However, it was good for 95% of the film, and definitely much better than the sight of grown men and women in costumes.

The only thing that really annoyed me was the opening. It seemed far too over-dramatic and 'Hollywood', and although I realise it must ahve been added as a way of explaining evacuation to those with no knowledge of WWII Britain, I think there could have been a better way of doing this.

All in all, an excellent film. Much better than I originally expected. Bring on Prince Caspian!
