Review by Sarahvma

3.7 / 5

Like many people who went to see the movie, this book was a big part of my literary childhood. So when I heard a movie was being made, naturally I was excited.

I'll keep this short, because I really haven't much to say, to be honest.

The film was competent. It was good. But perhaps we've been spoiled by Lord of the Rings in the sense that we now see what a very superb film adaptation of a fantasy book can do.

The film never really drew me in, but everything was fine.

It was good, not great. Which is why I can't leave much of a review beyond that - I liked it, I just didn't love it.
