I absolutely love C. S. Lewis, so when I heard that Disney was making a movie of Narnia, the first thing I thought was "Yes!!!" I was glad because if the movie was good, it would get people interested in reading C. S. Lewis and finding out what it's all about. But I was a little nervous that they might mess it up and then people who saw it would become prejudiced against Narnia, a really wonderful world.
So I was really excited when I actually saw the movie, because it was awesome! I especially loved the beautiful scenery. I thought that the stuff they added that wasn't in the book mostly kept with the spirit of the story. One thing I didn't appreciate was how they changed the White Witch - making her ugly just kind of ruins the effect that I think C. S. Lewis intended, though I do think Tilda Swinton is a wonderful actress! But I did appreciate how they developed Peter's character (especially in the Peter/Edmund conflict) though it wasn't that big of a thing in the book, because it gave so much more clarity to the story. And my favorite scene was one they added - the frozen river scene.
Of course no movie makers, no matter what technology they have, could ever do justice to Aslan - but all the same, to say I was very impressed with what they did would be a major understatement! The one thing I was a bit sad that they left out was the part where Aslan, after his resurrection, is running with the girls on his back to the Witch's castle and makes a gigantic leap over the wall into the courtyard. Though I admit that must be a very awkward thing to show on screen. But it was always my favorite part of the book!
Overall, I was quite impressed!!
