We’ve just posted the twenty-first edition of the NarniaFans Mailbag. We’ve answered four letters this week from such topics as why they call C.S. Lewis “Jack,” the missing “in-depth companion guidebook,” Prince Caspian filming, and possible use of flashbacks in future Narnia films.
Q: Hey I was just wondering. From what I’ve been reading it seems that the filming for Prince Caspian will be from like February to spring. That’s only a few months! Do you think that will be enough time to get everything right? I seem to recall that LWW took like 6 or 7 months to film. I was just a little worried they might not have time to do everything they want to do and might have to rush some things. What do you think?

A: Well Seth, the Schedule of filming does go from the middle of February until about June, which is nearly five months. They have many people that have been working on it, and they make schedules for the filming. I think they’ll have plenty of time to get everything that they want into the film. LWW didn’t take much longer to film, plus they were filming in sequence. We have yet to see how they are going to film Prince Caspian, but the story doesn’t need to be filmed in sequence due to a few stories that feature different characters.
Q: Hi I love this Website it’s nice knowing there are other “Narnia Freaks” besides myself. Do you think they will have Flashbacks in the movies for example King Caspian the First invading Narnia or (in the Horse and His Boy) King Olvin of Archenland defeating the giant Pire by turning him to stone creating Mount Pire.

A: Thanks! I don’t know if they’ll have flashbacks, but Prince Caspian could be a great place to start, and it might even be necessary to the story. This is a technique that was done to great success in The Lord of the Rings, and I can definitely see it happening here. Prince Caspian, together with The Voyage of the Dawn Treader and The Silver Chair is a very epic story that flashbacks may serve very well. It would certainly enhance the story, and make things more exciting than shortening parts of the story to a few lines of dialogue.

A: Here’s a pretty interesting question, with an even more interesting answer. According to Wikipedia:
At the age of four, shortly after his dog Jacksie was hit by a car, Lewis announced that his name was now Jacksie. At first he would answer to no other name, but later accepted Jacks which became Jack, the name by which he was known to friends and family for the rest of his life.

My friend just bought me the 4-Disc Extended Edition of LWW, sealed with the plastic and all. I read the back and noticed that it depicted *and* mentioned a guidebook, but when I opened the case and everything, where the little pocket is on the right, there was no guidebook at all. I was really looking forward to this….I couldn’t find a way to contact Disney, or whoever deserves to be contacted for this. Is there any way you can help me? Thank you so much.
