Licensing Narnia: A Look Inside the Plans
A few highlights from an article about the Licensing plans for the new Chronicles of Narnia films: “We will be very careful about how we embellish merchandise, whether toys, video games, or board games, and will work in conjunction with the C.S. Lewis Estate. The consumer products are an extension of the movie, but we will work to remain true to “The Chronicles of Narnia” original intent and content.”

The actors are: Georgie Henley, 9, from London, who plays the lead character Lucy; Skandar Keynes, 12, also from London, who plays Edmund; Anna Popplewell, 15, from West Yorkshire, who plays Susan; and William Moseley, 17, from Gloucestershire, who plays the eldest brother Peter.

Marrero, Louisiana native is LWW Animator
Breaux and other animators are taking a break before heading back to Rhythm & Hues in August to work on an animated adaptation of the C.S. Lewis tale “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.” The movie, which Breaux described as a “kids’ version of ‘Lord of the Rings,’ ” is scheduled for a December 2005 release.

No Room for Narnia Beasts: Reindeer Not Allowed
Film-maker Lamp-Post Productions hit a speed bump on the road to Narnia when it applied to the Ministry of Argiculture and Forestry for permission to bring in the reindeer and eight wolf cross-breeds. The ministry was happy with wolves in the Auckland studio – which has been set up on the former Hobsonville airbase – but drew the line at reindeer.

TORn’s Tehanu has the scoop on the wolfpack to be used in the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. “Waitakere City Council has no problems allowing a pack of 10 North American wolves onto its turf to be filmed as “Witch’s Minions” for the C. S. Lewis classic The Lion, the Witch and The Wardrobe.”

Robert Burnett, who crafted such special editions as The Usual Suspects, X-Men 1.5 and X2, is currently at work on the future DVD release of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.

Second Narnia Film Already in the Works
Disney is already looking ahead to the next one. Zoradi said they’ve begun work on a second script. “In my nearly 25 years at Disney, I’ve never seen the company so energised so early about a film,” Mark Zoradi, the president of Buena Vista International told them. “The film will be visually stunning and emotionally breathtaking.”
