Prince Caspian: Ben Barnes & why is he so old?

I actually wasn't freaking out. I've left it up in the air as to the fate of this film series (i.e. whether or not it will turn out to be that great and all, once complete). I have my views and opinions, but I am willing to accept the hand of Fate into these matters, to a greater extent than some would believe me capable of doing. That's all. Hopefully I'm wrong in worrying.

I disagree. I leave nothing up to fate, because I don't believe in fate. I believe in God and I believe that He is in control of everything.:)
And I'm sure you are wrong in worrying, don't borrow trouble. Have faith, have hope... and don't be such a pessimist all the time! :)
Respectfully,
~Np

I agree. on both points, I suppose. Although I'm not as worried about the age anymore, it's more the um, flirting that is um.. "interesting". ;)

Although, at the age they are going to be in the film, a light amount of flirting wouldn't be too far out of line for two young people. Susan probably needs someone different other than just her siblings around all the time. ROFLOL!!!:D

If you're going to get all technical, then please don't bring religion into it. I believe in Fate, which I equate to the All, the Absolute, known to laymen by the limiting title 'God'. Another thing, realism does not equate to pessimism. So, if I'm a realist, don't call me a pessimist. Sometimes, negative expectation prophecizes the truth. Also, most of what I was stating, at least that which seemed as if they were questions, were rhetorical in nature, thus they did not need to be answered. I'm not in an offensive mood, so please don't read my words as such. That's all.

they picked Ben Barnes because he is a good actor. now you will be surprised what movie magic can do....they will probably make Ben Barnes into a young boy again ^.^ hopefully

Try out in my dreams yeah...but I am truly over it. I'm just concerned for the films, (perhaps my command of the English language [even though I am a native speaker, is not up to par enough to get my views across]). I left the Path of the Wise for a time, and my Inner Divinity suffered for it. So, though I may seem to be dragging on about it, I am working to tread the path out of Malkuth (the Kingdom) on towards Yesod, seeking after things which are not vain. My comments are not out of jealousy, at present at least, though I have slipped on something, in the past. I have sought after vain, impermanent things in the past, but, since my life is finally moving and I have returned to my magickal training, things are going in the right direction. I only worry for this to NOT turn into another SW prequels, which were, IMHO, underpar, as far as films go. I want to see another LWW-grade CON film, that's all. Please don't go and turn this into yet another ad hominem argument. I don't know you and you don't know me, so let's not (with our mutual lack of personal experience) turn this into some biting attack-fest. Okay?

P.S.: You keep on saying you don't want to start a fight, but your moving dangerously close to the edge of territory into which you should not enter, if you do not wish for cyber-violence. Just warning you, so as to avoid any unnecessary harshness.

Hmmm I believe I have entered this thread at a low point in its history. Ben seems as though he will fill the part well. Just not what I was expecting.

I think he could play the part well, but there's also the possibility that he couldn't. I freaked out when I first saw William, Anna, Georgie, and Skandar because they were not what I was expecting for the Pevensies. However I think all of them, except William, played their parts very well. So I guess I'll just have to wait and see how well Ben plays the part... If he turns out to be the wrong person for Caspian I will be VERY dissapointed! Caspian is my favorite character, and if they mess him up I will hold a gruge against Disney and Walden Media forever... well, not really, but I will be extremely upset. Hopefully, they picked the right guy. :D Today I saw a Ben Barnes avatar for the very first time  Already the crazy fandom is starting...

Cyber-violence? I don't believe I've ever heard of that before.
Okay Cyon, I won't fight with you. :) Truce?

I don't know if this has been said or not, but think of it this way: with all of LWW's popularity and it's moneymaking, why would the directorial crew pick someone they knew would be awful, too old, and not live up to people's expectations of Caspian?

That doesn't make sense. They are seeking out actors who will perform their characters well and to the audience's expectation; so if they don't pick out someone who's very good, at least in their character to us, then I don't think it would be intentional.

Remember on one of the Narnia special features program it said that Andrew could tell who was right for Mr. Beaver and Mrs. Beaver? He picked perfect voices and actors for those two characters; and picked a great actor for Aslan.

So, if a character doesn't meet up with our standards, I don't think it would be intentional.

I agree with you. doesn't matter if Caspian will be too old or younger or such thing like that, as long as he could plays so well as Caspian, why not???

We should think what will Andrews do in those movie, coz i believe that he will make the script little bit different with the book. Like what he did in LWW, that made Walden's LWW is make us more excited to watched than BBC's one. Coz of Andrews's improvisation!!!

He choosed Ben Barnes as Caspian, probably it caused by his improvisation in the script. And the expectation that there will be a romance between Su n Caspian probably one of the reason why Ben Barnes being choosed.

So dont worry with that!!Just trust Andrews!! I believe that he gonna give us his best imagination!! :D

Would you, Mr. Adamson?? :D

If there is a romance between Susan and Caspian I will throw up. I am serious.

Don't worry they won't!!!! They couldn't!

Mrs. Obi-Wan Kenobi has a good point! They've been shown that what people want is the books, as faithfully as possible. Therefore, that's what they'll make. It's just good sense.

Personally, I don't think there will be a romance, maybe flirtation, but not point blank romance.

Besides, if they do that, people won't buy tickets to see the film; at least the die-hard fans of the books won't.
