Let Ninecatcher do it, so Retaw can fly if necessary.

====================

Ninecatcher had something else to say to Marius before things went any further.

"Sir Centaur, it occurs to my mind that, in these unhappy conditions, the group or army of which you are a member may need to keep its numbers and camp location secret. If so, you may have some rule that if Retaw and I once behold your troops, we must ourselves become sworn members of your band under orders. I cannot speak for the young Griffin, but for myself I cannot be thus confined. Not only do I have a husband to return to, but he and I have a commission given to us by Aslan, and I mean told to us by the Great God-Lion Himself, which cannot be set aside. So if coming with you has to mean my compulsory induction into your band, I shall sadly be obliged to quit your company _before_ I behold your secrets."

~ ~ That's for YOU to decide. But you can say that Marius has a good sense for who's good or bad, so he can say Ninecatcher and Retaw should be allowed to come and go freely--especially if you say he can sense that Ninecatcher is telling the truth about having personally met Aslan.

The centaur thinks for a moment. "There is a break in the woods up ahead some ways. We can meet there. And while I hate to leave you two unguarded, we must have more information. " He hefts the Goblin into his arms and looks to the Tigress and gryphon.

"We're not exactly helpless cubs, either," Ninecatcher assures the withdrawing Marius. To Retaw, then, she says:

"While we're waiting, I urge you to overcome squeamishness and eat some of this dead Goblin. Finding food is only going to become still more difficult for Narnians in the future. The tyrant will probably have arrangements to import food from someplace which is friendly to her but is not under her curse; and she will doubtless ration out this food only to Narnians who publicly reject faith in Aslan and worship her instead."

When Retaw heard ninecatcher say that he must eat a dead goblin he instantly had a feeling of loathing to the goblin, because he has never eaten that kind of meat, but unfurtunately Ninecatcher was right at this so he have to do it.

While Retaw was eating, Ninecatcher--her senses still alert for new danger, so no, Mods, you CAN'T say she's off guard--asked him:

"Is there any permanent human settlement near here? There must be one someplace; some of the Archenlanders I spoke with mentioned exchanging visits with relatives in Narnia. And here where there's access to Archenland is where I would have expected to find the greatest number of Narnian humans, other than around Cair Paravel. Or have the human towns already been destroyed? If so, I must look for humans in hiding." *

* Sort of Caspian's quest in reverse.

OOC: He hadn't left yet. He was waiting for their decision.

He stops and turns back. "I did not mean to imply that, Milady Tigress. Only that a gentleman should guard a lady if at all possible. And a disgraced not too, had he the chance." He continues on and takes the goblin to his commanding officer.

Ninecatcher gets in another word to Marius (which can be considered as being _before_ the yummy discussion of nutrition with Retaw):

"I took no offense, noble sir. Indeed, among tigers, the males are much stronger than the females, and all TALKING Tiger males who are true to Aslan take the same responsibility as you do. That's why my husband is recuperating from wounds far from here, while I am unhurt : because he stood between me and our foes."

"Well I'm not sure, I've heard of some humans hidden in the woods but never heard of an specific location though they keep it very secret, considering that they are in danger" said Retaw to Ninecatcher

"Humans are my chief concern," explained Ninecatcher, "because they are the only beings whom Jadis really desires to exterminate entirely. She won't even LET them surrender and live as her servants; she wants them totally eliminated from any land she controls. This is because she knows what a kinship Aslan feels for the Children of Adam and Eve in particular. In my land, as a matter of fact, we are taught that Aslan has actually BEEN IN the world of Adam and Eve, and that there He Himself assumed the form of a Man. So, since Jadis cannot destroy Aslan, she wants to destroy the beings most dear to Him of all flesh-and-blood creatures. Hence my mission: to convince any Narnian humans I find that their cause is lost here, and that they need to get away to where Jadis' power is not in effect. The absence of humans will actually make it EASIER for other Narnian beings to keep up a secret resistance--because with humans gone, Jadis will be less aggressive, less on the alert."

He leaves for the place he told to tigress and gryphon to meet him at

Hidden in the cover of the trees as is his favorite position for watching he waits for the Tigress and Gryphon.

"Retaw, come on, our Centaur friend is back!....Yes, Marius, here we are; and the young Griffin has learned to add Goblin to his diet."
