The trustees, board, committees, and staff of CAMIE awards, Inc. are delighted to announce ten wonderful motion pictures as winners of the 2006 CAMIE awards. John Schneider and 1993 Miss America, Leanza Cornett hosted this year’s CAMIES on the stage of the beautiful and prestigious Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre in North Hollywood.
Jon Voight and other stars, producers, directors, writers, motion picture and television executives were there in a star-studded red-carpet affair where they received CAMIES for creating uplifting films without offensive content.
“We are absolutely delighted with these fine films,” Dr. Glen Griffin said of the CAMIE winners. “Yes, there are some terrible films out there that provide negative role modeling,” he added, “But there are also some great ones, and our job is to encourage the studios to make more uplifting ones we can all enjoy without being shocked or embarrassed—and then tell people about them.” As the president of Hallmark Hall of Fame received the company’s fifth CAMIE, Brad Moore said: “We look forward to giving you much more uplifting and wonderful films in the future.”
Charlie Nelson, Disney vice president, praised the CAMIES as he accepted them for two films, The Greatest Game Ever Played, and The Chronicles of Narnia.
The six 2006 CAMIE winning films made for the theater are March of the Penguins, Dreamer, The Greatest Game Ever Played, The Chronicles of Narnia, I am David, and Pride and Prejudice. Each is outstanding and is particularly unique.
The films made for television that received 2006 CAMIES are Love’s Long Journey (Hallmark Channel), Pope John Paul II (CBS), The Reading Room (Hallmark Channel), and The Magic of Ordinary Days (Hallmark Hall of Fame).
