Solent company wins design award for Dawn Treader sail

I helped to hoist the sail on The Matthew of Bristol, when I sailed on it as the Dawn Treader last fall.  It was truly an incredible looking sail.

A design company based near the Solent has won a national prize for creating a stunning sail that was used to promote hit film Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

The Wild Group in Hamble, Hampshire, won top prize in the Best Textile Print category at the prestigious Sign & Digital Awards in Birmingham recently.

The sail – with the film’s title emblazoned across the middle – was used by 20th Century Fox to promote Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader, which made over £240 million worldwide since its release.

“It’s amazing just to be nominated let alone be a winner,” said Matt Straker, Managing Director of The Wild Group. “It hasn’t really sunk in yet but it’s awesome to be recognized for all the hard work and impressive projects we’ve worked on over the years.”
