“I’m here to talk to you about the Inklings Initiative” APRIL FOOLS 2019!

Well, friends, another April Fools has come and gone. If you don’t know what it is, learn about it here. With news of Narnia movies limited, it helps us clear the cobwebs and break the monotony.  Thank you as always for indulging us.

First, while there is a biopic about JRR Tolkien coming to theaters this May, it is only slated to focus on his early years, meaning that while we will see his romance with Edith, his time in World War I, and his camaraderie with the TCBS ( Tea Club Borravian Society), we will probably not see his time at Oxford. After all with a two hour run time for most movies it is hard to get every detail of a person’s life into the story.

This means that there will NOT be a post credit scene featuring CS Lewis that helps launch the Inklings Cinematic Universe*. However, it would be really cool if he was, and seeing as Hollywood is very franchise focused and everyone seems to be trying to create the next shared Universe, what could be more fun for fans of CS Lewis, JRR Tolkien and the Inklings then to see a series of movies like this? And considering we’ve had a couple jokes come true, this would be one I wouldn’t mind seeing happen.

This leads to the second joke: there will NOT be an attraction at Epcot called hall of British Writers featuring the Inklings.

For our eagle eyed fans who pick up on the “Easter Eggs”  the name of producer “John Fuller” is a reference to Jon Favreau director of Iron Man, the movie that launched the Marvel Cinematic Universe, while Fuller was the cousin of Kevin in Home Alone, and the producer of the Marvel movies is named “Kevin” Feige.

As or the rest of the cast at Epcot’s Hall of British Writers, it was a matter for the other four of what great British actors could I hear reading those works.   Yes, the use of Christopher Plummer as Shakespeare is a reference to his role in Star Trek VI, in which he quotes Shakespeare and says “you haven’t’ experienced Shakespeare until you’ve heard him in the original Klingon” while Stewart was because of his acclaimed one man stage show of A Christmas Carol. Judi Dench had the right amount of chill for Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, while I could think of no better actress to handle the wit of Jane Austen then Julie Andrews.

That’s it for this year. We hope you enjoyed them, and stay tuned for NarniaFans for all the latest.
