The Dawn Treader – Close Up Views

A couple of nights ago, I met someone via Twitter. He has taken some very unique pictures of the Dawn Treader. There have been a lot of photos going around, but I have yet to see any like these. In these pictures, you’ll see close-up details that really display the care that is being put into the film. The level of craftsmanship on this motion picture is through the roof, as the first days of filming on the Dawn Treader come to fruition. The pictures include close-ups of parts of the ship that we have not yet seen before, as well as some of the detail that might not make it onto the big screen. Hopefully they’re making a documentary on the design and building of the ship for the eventual DVD and Blu-ray releases of The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

BIG thanks to Narnia Fans Spy David Jackmanson (On Twitter, bigger versions of the pictures on Flickr)

  1. I enjoy the chronicles of Narnia movies. I can not wait for the voyage of the dawn treader to come out!

  2. I love this movie and am excitedly awaiting for part 3. December 2010 can not get here fast enough!

  3. Everything looks awesoooome!! And I love the ladder in the back of the Dragon’s neck…hmm…Reepicheep? 😀

  4. Hey Paul, thanks very much for publishing the photos. There’s a lot of interest out there about the Dawn Treader, my photos on flickr have had LOTS of views.

I’ll have to see if I can get some photos from the other side – the ship is right on the edge of the tip of a narrow spit, and there’s a mudflat on the other side. I’ll have to see how far around I can get before the security guards start yelling.

I’ll also let people in Brisbane with better cameras than me know how much interest there is – I don’t have a great camera, which is why some of the read close-up shots are a bit fuzzy. If someone with a proper DSLR camera takes some shots you’ll get even better detail.

I assume those big wings that are on the ground in one of the photos have to go on the side of the boat somehow, and also a sail, so I hope to have a few more updates for you!

  5. All I could say was ‘:-O’ and ‘It’s BEAUTIFUL’ for almost every picture except the back of the prow and the details of the windows – to those I just kept saying ‘WOW’. :D.

    Amazing! Completely!

  6. All the Narnia movies so far have been amazing!! The ship is really looking great! I’m going crazy, I can’t wait until Dec, 10 2010!

  7. It is absolutely on level with the previous films’ level of detail, and my greatest fear about switching studios was that the quality might change. The film’s production value is breathtaking.

  8. skandaaaaar where are you???????????
the ship is really cool! I can’t wait for the movie!!

  9. The photos look so much more detailed and clear on the outside of the studio she is so beautiful 🙂
