This Fan-Made LEGO Narnia Video Took Two Years to Bring to Life

Lego Lucy and Mr. Tumnus

A Narnia fan has brought Lucy’s first journey through the wardrobe to life in LEGO form, and the finished video shows just how much care went into the project. Titled The Wardrobe and What Lucy Found There, the fan-made film took two years to complete and recreates one of the most beloved moments in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe brick by brick.

Stepping into an unassuming wardrobe, Lucy Pevensie finds herself in a snowy world filled with wonder… and quiet danger. The video adapts the second and third chapters of C.S. Lewis’s classic story, staying as faithful to the original text as possible while bringing it to life in a completely new way.

That faithfulness shows up immediately in the dialogue. From Lucy’s first curious steps—

“This must be a simply enormous wardrobe…”

—to her unforgettable meeting with Mr. Tumnus:

“Excuse me… should I be right in thinking that you are a Daughter of Eve?”

The film carefully preserves the tone and rhythm of Lewis’s writing, letting the charm and tension unfold just as readers remember.

Behind the scenes, the project was just as intricate as what appears on screen. The creator mapped out the film using more than 250 hand-drawn sketches and storyboards, carefully planning each shot before animation began.

Most of the sets were built using a combination of LEGO and clay. The LEGO structures allowed for easy adjustments between shots, while a layer of clay-covered foil helped make animation smoother and more precise.

One of the most fascinating touches is how Lucy and Mr. Tumnus were brought to life. Their facial animations were created months in advance, with blank minifig faces used during filming so the expressions could be added later.

And as the story unfolds, the emotional weight lands just as strongly as it does in the book—especially when Tumnus confesses the truth about the White Witch:

“Always winter and never Christmas; think of that!”

From the earliest sketches to the final edit, the entire project took around two years to complete… a true labor of love that captures the quiet magic of Lucy’s first steps into Narnia.
