Dawn Treader at Dusk

A photo has surfaced of the Voyage of the Dawn Treader set that was captured back in September 2009 when the locals were host and lucky visitors of the Morton Bay area of Queensland Australia and had unlimited views to the production at Cleveland Point.

The image was taken from a public foreshore reserve about a kilometre away and captures the ship under lights combined with the natural sunlight at dusk and the moonlight of a rising full moon.

In related news, Brisbane has been hit with the worst flooding they’ve ever seen.  Many of the supporting cast and crew are locals, so please keep them in your prayers.

  3. The ship looks fantastic with the light hitting it like that! Great photo. I wish the photos I took of the Dawn Treader when they were filming at Cleveland were THAT GOOD! It definitely is a shame about the floods. I was extremely lucky that I didn’t get hit by the floods like others living around the Brisbane area.

  4. Don’t worry. I’ve read on their Facebook that Tony Nixon and Arabella Morton and their families are safe. When I saw a new story last night about this I immediately thought of them. In the fall southeast Minnesota got hit by flooding as well. It wasn’t that bad in my town, but there were a lot of people with flooded basements.

  5. I live in Brisbane and during the time of the filming of this movie, I was living in Cleveland and we’d go to the bay and have some fish and chips and see the huge VDT ship sail about and all the production stuff. It was just great!
Thankfully, we haven’t been affected in our area by the floods but the CBD of Brisbane and Towomba which is two hours away flooded really bad. Towomba had what we can call, “An inland tsunami”. Thanks everyone for your prayers. P.S nearly 11,000 volunteers offered to help those affected by the floods in their clean-up etc… everyone is so grateful for everyone’s concern.

  6. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. As far as I have been able to find out all of us involved in VDT are safe and well. Mirko Grillini has already pitched in with the clean up. Arabella was safe with family on Gold Cost during the worst. I plan to head down to Brisbane tomorrow (Mon here) and join a clean up team until Thursday. My official site needs a bit of a tidy up, BUT as Angelina (site Admin) was trapped by the floods AWAY from her home for weeks AND as more importantly for now she is also helping clean up the mess in Brisbane it will just have to wait a while. Please bear with is on this for a couple of weeks.

  7. I knew they were filming VODT on the Gold Coast, but didn’t know they used Moreton Bay. How cool was that. I’ve also lived in Brisbane and the Gold Coast…thinking of you guys doing it tough after the floods…
