Lucy’s cordial matters because it reveals the shape of her gift almost immediately. While Peter receives a sword and Susan a horn, Lucy is entrusted with healing. That fits her role across the series.
The cordial also keeps Narnia’s battles from becoming only about force. Mercy and restoration are part of the fight too.
