Background
Dufflepuds, also called Duffers, are the one-footed island creatures in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. They bring broad comedy into the middle of the voyage, but Lewis also uses them to explore vanity, visibility, and the difference between what people think they want and what is actually good for them.
How the race functions in Narnia
The Dufflepuds are funny, exasperating, and oddly touching. Their island episode lightens the tone for a while, yet it also fits the book’s wider pattern of distorted desires being corrected.
