Background

Fauns are among the most familiar old Narnian creatures. Lewis presents them as woodland people with music, festivity, and deep ties to the older life of the land. In darker times they can be frightened or compromised, but they still belong to the world Aslan made.

How the race functions in Narnia

Fauns often help give Narnia its mythic texture. They stand close to trees, dances, feasts, and the half-wild joy that returns when enchantment begins to break. At the same time, individual fauns can be timid, loyal, comic, or brave, which keeps them from feeling ornamental.
