Background
Giants appear only occasionally in the Chronicles, but they add real scale to the world. Lewis treats them as a distinct people rather than as oversized humans. Some are hostile and coarse, as in Harfang, while others stand with Narnia and answer its call in war.
How the race functions in Narnia
The giants help show that Narnia contains old powers that are not easily sorted into a single moral category. They can be foolish, dangerous, loyal, or formidable, depending on the group and the moment. That variety keeps them from feeling like stock monsters dropped in from a fairy-tale checklist.
