Ginger is the talking cat in The Last Battle who imagines himself clever enough to stand above the competing claims about Aslan and Tash. He treats the whole crisis as something to exploit, only to be shattered when he encounters the reality he had dismissed.

His end is one of the book’s grimmest warnings. Ginger is not condemned for asking questions. He is undone by smug contempt for truth and by a willingness to maneuver inside falsehood until it suddenly becomes terrifyingly real.
