Adaptation portrayal
General Oreius is a centaur commander created for the Walden film version of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. He helps embody the military strength of Aslan’s side and gives the centaurs a clear battlefield leader during the final conflict.
The character works well on screen because film battles often need recognizable generals and visual anchors. Oreius gives the centaurs that kind of presence, especially alongside Peter and the wider Narnian host.
Connection to the books
Lewis includes centaurs in Narnia, and they are noble, wise, and martial figures, but Oreius is not a named book character from the original novels. He is best understood as an adaptation-created representative of that wider centaur tradition.
