Aliases: Lord Rhoop
Race: Telmarine

Book portrayal

Lord Rhoop is the lost lord who survives the longest and suffers the most visibly in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Caspian and his companions find him on the Dark Island, broken by prolonged terror and desperate never to be taken back into the darkness he escaped.

That gives Rhoop one of the most haunting minor roles in the book. He embodies what the island does to the mind. Unlike the sleeping lords or the dead Restimar, Rhoop can still speak, and what he says makes the danger feel immediate and personal.

Adaptation portrayals

Screen versions keep Rhoop tied to the darker side of the voyage. He remains the lord marked by fear, even when the details of the island and its threat are adjusted for the adaptation.

Similarities and differences

Across versions, Rhoop serves the same basic purpose. He is living evidence that the eastern seas are not only strange, but spiritually and psychologically dangerous.
