Book portrayal

Prince Corin is one of the most energetic characters in The Horse and His Boy. Bold, impulsive, cheerful, and always ready for a fight, he brings a burst of comic vigor into the story. His nickname, Thunder-Fist, fits him perfectly.

Corin matters for more than color, though. As the twin of Cor, he becomes a living sign of Shasta’s true identity and helps set the book’s hidden-history plot into motion. Lewis also uses him as a contrast. Corin is princely, privileged, and reckless, while Cor has grown up poor, uncertain, and self-controlled. Their resemblance also shows how differently two brothers can be shaped by upbringing.

Legacy in Narnia

Corin is one of the most memorable supporting royals in the Chronicles. He gives Archenland warmth and personality, and he makes the revelation of Cor’s birth both lively and emotionally satisfying.
