Book portrayal
Kidrash Tarkaan is one of the Calormene nobles mentioned in The Horse and His Boy, part of the world of arranged marriage, rank, and political convenience that presses so heavily on Aravis. He is not one of the novel’s most developed personalities, but he belongs to the machinery of the life she is trying to escape.
That is enough to make him useful. Lewis often gives even lightly sketched names a real function inside the social order of the story. Kidrash helps show that Calormene power is not an abstract empire in the background. It reaches into family arrangements, expectations, and forced futures.
Legacy in Narnia
Kidrash is a small figure, but he contributes to the pressure surrounding Aravis and to the larger portrait of Calormene aristocratic life.
