Girbius is one of the fauns who belong to the hidden old Narnia in Prince Caspian. Lewis gives many of these supporting creatures only a small amount of space, but the named fauns help the recovery of Narnia feel crowded with real lives instead of anonymous extras.
As a faun on Caspian’s side, Girbius belongs to the older, freer world that has survived in secret during the Telmarine centuries. His page is brief, but he still contributes to the sense that the woods are filling up again with the people who properly belong there.
