Book portrayal
Lord Peridan is one of the human attendants in the Narnian embassy to Calormen in The Horse and His Boy. His role is not large, but it is important for the shape of the story. He helps show that the adult Pevensies now rule within an actual court, with servants, nobles, and diplomatic responsibilities rather than isolated fairy-tale grandeur.
Peridan also adds an interesting human note to Narnia itself. In the earlier books, readers can easily imagine Narnia as almost entirely a land of talking beasts and mythic creatures. Characters like Peridan remind us that the kingdom also includes human political life and service around the throne.
Legacy in Narnia
Peridan is a supporting character, but he deepens the sense of Narnia as a functioning realm with diplomacy, hierarchy, and history. That makes the adult reign of the Pevensies feel richer and more credible.
