Book Appearances: The Horse and His Boy
Movie Appearances: None yet in an official Narnia film adaptation.
Biography: An Archenland lord, named alongside his brother Darrin among King Lune’s loyal men.

Book portrayal

Dar is one of the minor Archenland nobles named in The Horse and His Boy. He appears only in passing, but he belongs to the ring of men gathered around King Lune at a crucial moment for Archenland’s safety.

Lewis does not turn Dar into a major personality, and he does not need to. The point of figures like Dar is to make Archenland feel peopled and structured, not empty until the heroes arrive. His paired name with Darrin also contributes to one of the book’s memorable little pieces of local color.

Legacy in Narnia

Dar is a slight figure, but he helps give Archenland the feeling of a real kingdom with its own noble houses, loyalties, and naming customs.
