The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (Animated)
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
Book portrayal
Mr. Beaver is one of the most warmly memorable supporting characters in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. He gives the Pevensies their first real refuge, explains the state of Narnia, and helps move the story from fearful wandering toward purposeful action.
He is practical, hospitable, and brave without pretending to be grand. Lewis uses him to show what ordinary faithfulness looks like under the Witch’s rule. Mr. Beaver knows the danger, but he still shelters the children and throws in his lot with Aslan.
Adaptation portrayals
Every adaptation keeps Mr. Beaver important because he carries so much of the story’s welcome, exposition, and common sense. The details shift, but his sturdy decency remains the same.
