Race: Dwarf
Book Appearances: The Last Battle
Movie Appearances: None yet in an official Narnia film adaptation.
Biography: A loyal dwarf who breaks with the cynical dwarfs and places himself in Tirian’s service during Narnia’s last crisis.
Book portrayal
Poggin is one of the most encouraging minor figures in The Last Battle. In a book filled with confusion, collapse, and bitterness, he shows simple loyalty. He refuses to stay with the self-protective dwarf crowd once it becomes clear that their posture is closing them off from truth as well as hope.
Lewis does not let all dwarfs collapse into one mood. Poggin proves that courage and fidelity remain possible. He is not naïve. He simply chooses service over grievance.
Legacy in Narnia
Poggin is a small character, but he gives The Last Battle a welcome note of steadiness. He helps show that even near the end, Narnia still has servants willing to act plainly and well.
